Snow elves are also called frost, arctic, or white elves. They are considered to be an extension of the sylvan elf subrace that became adapted to cold climates.

APPERANCE: Snow elves have one of two common appearances. Snow elves have skin tanned to a golden honey color, bluish-white or silvery hair, and silver or blue eyes.
Snow elves are also shorter and heavier then average elves. Snow elves stand between 4 1/2 to 5 feet tall, females being a bit shorter then males. Snow elves also have more body fat and a more gentle, less chisled look then their elven kin. Their softer, rounded bodies are more human in apperance.

LANGUAGES: Snow elves speak their own language (a dialect of elvish). Other languages known are arctic dwarf, frost giant, yeti, white dragon, and selkie. Rarely, some border traders will know common.

CLOTHING: Snow elves typically dress in furs, hides, skins or leathers from animals they have killed and eaten. They are very good at seeing that no part of the animal goes to waste. Snow elves are also skilled weavers, and trade with other races to obtain wool. A typical outfit consists of woven undertunic and breeches, a heavier sweater, leather pants lined with furs and a hide or fur outer parka. Decorations of carved bone beads and silver are valued.
Snow elves do not make metallic "elven chain", but have developed their own unique type of armor made from white dragon hide.

DIET: Snow elves are not the vegatarians that their southern cousins are. Vegitation is sparse in the arctic and competition for food is fierce. The typical snow elf diet is based around reindeer, carabou, bear, seals, fish, dried berries, and roots.

RACIAL ADJUSTMENTS: Snow elves recieve the standard elven characteristics of 90% resistance to sleep and charm spells, infravision, moving silently, innate weapon familiarity with bow and longsword, and detection of secret doors.
Special Advantages: Accustomed to their arctic home, snow elves take half damage from any cold-based attack. By young adulthood all snow elves have the proficiency "survival: arctic" and do not need to expend slots for it. Snow elves suffer no momement penalty in arctic terrain, and no tracking penalties for arctic terrain.
Special Disadvantages: So accustomed to the cold are they, snow elves take double damage from any heat-based attack. They would also be quite uncomfortable in tropical jungle climates.

STAT ADJUSTMENTS: Snow elves are stronger and heartier due to a need to survive in a physically demanding environment. They gain a +1 STR and +1 CON.
Snow elves experience little outside their own tribe and lands, and there is little time for book learning. They recieve -1 WIS and -1 INT.

FAMILY LIFE: Snow elves live in small tribal groups of between 5-30 members. Southernmost clans may be stationary in their areas, but more northern clans are nomadic, and have a range of lands that they wander to the same areas every season. Their homes are usually dome shaped tents covered in hides, easily portable. The Elders of the clan make the decisions for all and are well respected.
